The game is ads free and it can be downloaded and installed from here. Keep in mind that you can save $3.99 if you accept this offer.

Game Studio Tycoon 3 gives you the chance to simulate a fully functional game development studio! Do you have what it takes to beat the competition and become the best studio in the industry?

  • Start on your own in a small office, and grow your gaming business to owning 7 buildings and managing 50 employees while tasking 3 independent teams of game developers to produce different projects at the same time!
  • Build your video gaming business alone, or try to get help from investors. A unique investor system allows you to sell off part of your company for money when you’re in a pinch!
  • Develop games for devices from 50 years of gaming history as well as the near future.
  • Create your own video games and even MMO’s! Determine the level of support for your MMO games, create updates, and run advertisement campaigns to attract new users!
  • Create your own hardware! You can create a traditional console, handheld device, or even a mobile device (tablet/phone). Once your hardware is released you can try to increase your market share by investing in third party developers to produce games for your hardware. Every game you release on your own hardware can help increase your market share!
  • Set the price for your games and hardware. Lower priced products tend to sell more, but turn less of a profit – find the right balance to capitalize!
  • Participate in 3 yearly conventions, each targeted at different types of fans.
  • Incredibly complex fan and user system. Each fan has a genre preference, and platform preference, and an age. On top of that, your fans will grow older as the game progresses!
  • Compare your studio against 7 AI studios and compete for yearly awards.
  • Analyze and strategize! Pour over various charts and graphs to determine what games you should make and decide what direction to take your company in.
  • Plan your game projects and hardware ahead of time. You can queue up to 3 projects for each team to work on for a total of 9 projects. This means when a team is done with their current project, they will move on to the next one right away!
  • Take a gamble and make games for big publishers! However, publisher deals rely on your past projects so be sure to have a high average game rating!
  • Certify your employees in 8 different technical fields to help improve their performance.

Chase your dream and get immersed in the ultimate tycoon adventure of the Game Development industry!

The game can also be found for free on AppStore – I suppose that for a limited time only. On Microsoft Store its price is $4.99 with $1 higher than the regular price from Play Store. Grab the game while it’s still free!

I’m not much of a fan of games like this, especially on mobile phones or tablets, but if you like it… please rate the game and give a feedback.

Malware Protection Engine vulnerability found and fixed

Two days ago a Malware Protection Engine vulnerability was published by Microsoft in the Security Advisory 4022344. In the meantime a urgent security patch was pushed out.

The Microsoft Malware Protection Engine is used by a lot of Microsofts products such as Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials on consumer PCs, and also products as Microsoft Endpoint Protection, Microsoft Forefront, Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection, or Windows Intune Endpoint Protection on the business side.

The attackers can execute remote code if a scan is processed by one of the products that uses the Malware Protection Engine, through a specific crafted file.

The vulnerability was found by Google Project Zero researchers: Tavis Ormandy and Natalie Silvanovich, that kept information hidden from the public and gave Microsoft 90 days in order to create a patch for the security patch. Tavis wrote on 6th of May on his Twitter page that this is the “worst Windows remote code exec in recent memory“.

In order to check if you’re affected or not by the vulnerability, please follow the exact steps as below:

  • Tap on the Windows key from your keyboard, type Windows Defender and hit Enter to load the application. (Windows 10 Creators Update will launch Windows Defender Security Center)
  • Click on the cogwheel icon in the lower left part of the interface and select the About link.
  • Check that the Engine Version is at the very least 1.1.13704.0

If the Engine Version is lower than 1.1.13704.0 then please update immediately the product affected by the vulnerability.

Malware Protection Engine

We’re glad that the Malware Protection Engine got a fix patch so quick. I’ve just updated early this morning, because as you can see, my Engine Version was below the recommended one.

Chrome helps macOS users protect their computers against malware

As you may know, Chrome is the most popular internet browser on the internet, but a lot of macOS users prefer to use Safari on their computers, because it comes pre-installed on the system.

Those who use Chrome will benefit from an extra security layer, since Google has decided to expand its Safe Browsing protections to Apple devices. Google has been restricting applications to edit the Chrome Settings on Windows, and now is planning to introduce the same feature on macOS, in order to keep the users free ok malware and ad-infectors.

Google’s announcement:

“From here on, the Settings Overrides API will be the only approved path for making changes to Chrome settings on Mac OSX, like it currently is on Windows. Also, developers should know that only extensions hosted in the Chrome Web Store are allowed to make changes to Chrome settings,”

Starting with the end of this month, Chrome and Safe Browsing will warn users about software that tries to modify Chrome settings without using the Settings Overrides API. So, from now on, Safe Browsing will stop the injection of ads into webpages and will not permit malicious files to change the homepage or default search engine.

Mac users, get ready to see this message more often!

Chrome helps macOS users protect their computer against malware

While macOS is not among the operating systems targeted by hackers, more and more mac malware (like OSX Filecoder.E) gets written every day.

As a reminder, Google removed the possibility to install extensions outside of the Google Chrome Store about two years ago.

58% percent of US schools use Chromebook 2-in-1 devices

The tech giants fight against each others on different markets. The educational institutes such as schools and universities prefer to use Google and Microsoft products (computers and laptops).

Google has become the leading choise in the educational institutions from US, while Microsoft is close behind. Apple have turned from leaders to the last choices, due to lack of innovations and high product price.

Chromebooks are the number one choise in the US, with 58% share, while Microsoft gathers a 22% of the market, followed by Apple with 19% and Linux with 5%.

From 12.6 million devices sold to US schools in 2016, more than a half of them are Chromebooks.

Both Microsoft and Google offer a lot of 2-in-1 devices with detachable keyboards under 300$. Such devices are preferred in educational environments for their flexibility in usage.

Microsoft figured out that such devices will be sold like warm bread and created its own Surface lineup.

Google raises Gmail attachment size to 50 MB (but there is a catch)

As you may know, Gmail is the most popular free email service, permitting everybody to sign up and create an email address easily. While it has competed with Yahoo for a while, Google has managed to keep one step ahead of Yahoo and to win war a several years ago.

Well, Google has been working under Gmail’s hood and decided to increase the attachment limit to 50 MB. But there is a catch, because the maximum size of an email remains 25 MB.

While regular users can now receive 50 MB files, to send such files you need to use one of the G Suite services, including Google Calendar, Drive, Gmail, Hangouts, Sheets, Slides and Keep, which is their latest addition.

Keep is a cloud-based note taking app that has been released and 2013. It has been recently integrated in Google Docs, permitting the users to access the Keep Notes via the Tools menu in Google Docs.

The Keep integration is available on Android, iOS and Chrome.

Google says that its G Suite is already used by 3 million business customers, including: Whirlpool, PwC and Woolworths, but they know they need to work harder in order to become an appreciated collaboration platform.

Google Allo is coming to the desktop

As you may know, Google has been working a lot at Allo, their smart messaging app, tied to the user’s phone numbers. At first, Google made it clear that it was a “mobile first” service, but it looks like they are working towards making it accessible on the desktop, from the browser.

The desktop version of Allo is in its early development stages, but Nick Fox, Google’s VP of Communications Products, shared an image of the browser-based Allo on Twitter.

Google Allo is coming to the desktop

We can see from the screenshot that the app has an intuitive design, a list of chats on the left side of the screen, while the messages are shown on the right. It has video and GIF support as well and it is said that Google with integrate their new AI virtual assistant into the app.

On Android 7.0 Nougat, Allo has direct reply support, split screen and brings Google Assistant features to iOS. Despite Google’s effort, the app has dropped out from top 500 apps on Play Store, allegedly meaning that consumers did not appreciate it too much.

To my mind, the app was created as an WhatsApp alternative, but I cannot see how it will overtake it. There are other internet services like Telegram or Viber that did not succeed it, so why would Google?
